Intro
The Society of North American Goldsmiths heads to Portland, Oregon in 2018 for its 47th Annual Conference. The conference includes lectures, exhibitions, a vendor room, demos, and social events.
Portland has a powerful entrepreneurial spirit that encourages everyone to engage across all disciplines. From art and design to food and beer, Portland’s MADE community is unique. To celebrate this, the SNAG 2018 conference theme is MADE: Makers Across Disciplines Engage.

MADE: Makers Across Disciplines Engage focuses on materials, art, design, and interdisciplinary collaboration. While celebrating traditional and innovative techniques alike, we seek to engage makers and other creative individuals who push the boundaries of our field with a cross-media sensibility. Portland is a city that has a strong sense of community and is home to entrepreneurs and craftspeople alike. In response to this, we invite makers who work across disciplines to explore the unforeseen directions, inventiveness, and ingenuity within the metalsmithing field. Several conference-related artist opportunities will be announced in the coming months. Opportunities already open include a call for entries for SNAG’s annual Juried Student Exhibition and a call for applications for Adorned Spaces, an exhibition/sale event.

SNAG would like to recognize Rio Grande as the overall sponsor for the 2018 conference.
