The Goldsmiths’ Centre is now accepting applications for the Business Catalyst (Large) Grants 2026, offering up to £7,000 (incl. VAT) to support UK jewellery, silversmithing, and allied industry businesses and their employees.
Funded through modern philanthropic giving via the Goldsmiths’ Foundation, by members of the Goldsmiths’ Company, these grants provide time and resources to develop skills, create new services, and explore new markets in the UK and internationally.
Grant amount available: Up to £7,000 (including VAT).
Applications close: Sunday 1 February 2026 by 5pm.
Number of grants available: 2.
Funds must be spent within 12 months and can be used to adopt new skills and processes through technical or business training either at the Goldsmiths’ Centre or elsewhere, or internships with master craftspeople. The grant can also support team development, portfolio diversification, and business expansion through new collections, collaborations and partnerships.
>> Guidelines and FAQ's
Julia Skilton, Grants and Engagement Manager at the Goldsmiths’ Centre explains: “Each year, we’re inspired by the creativity and ambition of the applications we receive. We encourage business owners to apply on behalf of their teams or to invest in their own upskilling. All proposals should show a clear commitment to business growth - whether through increased sales, productivity, profitability or improved processes.”
One of the 2025 recipients, jeweller Shivani Chorwadia, is using her grant to pursue advanced training in wax carving and CAD, while launching an ethically sourced collection that reflects the courage and clarity she gained through her recovery. Shivani says: "The Business Catalyst (Large) Grant came at the perfect time, giving me the space to invest in new skills, explore a bold new direction for my work, and launch a collection on my own terms. Without it, I wouldn’t have been able to access the training, guidance, and support needed to take these creative risks."
Who can apply?
The grants are open to people who:
- are employed full time by their own Limited company (or if part time as 0.6 working week minimum), or as sole trader/self-employed, or micro business in the jewellery, silversmithing or allied industries.
- are located and have a trading address in the UK with permanent right to remain if originally from overseas, this will need to be evidenced. They must have a UK bank account in the exact name they apply in and have the intention to remain resident in the UK for 5 years following receipt of the grant.
- typically employ no more than 2 people (full-time or on a part-time equivalent), including yourself, and have a turnover up to £150,000.
- are part of a small group of practitioners who usually collaborate in their work or create work together. In this instance, all individuals in the group must submit their own application and can only apply for one grant for their joint project. Organisations cannot apply, and individuals cannot apply on behalf of an organisation.
- are in a financial position to contribute a minimum of 10% of the overall project cost. Proof of this funding will be required before the grant is made. Contributions in-kind, such as your time, will not be counted for this purpose.
- have a minimum of 5 years of relevant business experience.
