Intro
This special exhibition is the eldest exhibition of contemporary jewellery work in the world. It takes place since 1959 every year during the International Trade Fair in March. Schmuck 2021 takes place during the 72rd International Trade Fair Munich (IHM) in hall B1 at the fair ground Munich from 10- 14th of March, 2021.
Applications for Schmuck 2021 during the 73rd International Trade Fair Munich can be made online on www.hwk-expo.de until 05.10.2020. The contributions should not be older than 2 years, they should be wearable jewellery, no installations, photographs, or packages. The decision about the entry to the special show Schmuck 2021 will be a personal selection of one internationally known specialist. Except for the transport cost until Munich the participation in the special show is free of charge. Three contributions of Schmuck 2021 will be awarded the Herbert Hofmann Prize. The prize of the society of craft fairs, GHM, mbH commemorates Dr. Herbert Hofmann, the founder of the special show in 1959.

Since 1959 the importance of the special show Schmuck of the International Trade Fair Munich is based on its continuity and the permanent focus on new jewellery developments, trends, and ideas. All contributions of the International Trade Fair Munich will be considered by the jury of The Bavarian States Prize. This prize is awarded 5.000 €.

The deadline for all applications will be the 5th of October 2020.

Projects are exhibited in specially designed exhibition spaces over around 600 m2. At the start of the fair, we publish a high-quality catalogue to introduce the participants, together with a short biography and a description of the work. During the fair, an international jury nominates the winner of the Herbert Hofmann Prize The prize is nominal. The prize winners are mentioned again in the catalogue the following year.

The contributions should reflect the development of the artist or technician while illustrating the type of work and the topics that s/he is currently involved in. The work may not be more than two years old. The selection panel considers the applications and selects the entrants for the competition. The entrants’ contributions are then exhibited at the Schmuck exhibition, which takes place during the International Skilled Trades Fair. They are appraised here by an international jury. Either individual items or a group of works can be considered. Depending on the size, no more than eight works should be presented.
