The Vienna Jewellery Days are a platform for contemporary jewellery production in Austria and have been scheduled for November 8 to November 12, 2016. The programme comprises thematic exhibitions, single and group presentations, workshops, guided tours through galleries, shops, and studios, as well as lectures, discussions, and dialogue tours.
The Vienna Jewellery Days are aimed at making a wider public familiar with the wide range of today’s jewellery production. They will offer both aficionados and experts the unique opportunity to deepen their experience and their knowledge of jewellery. Organized in cooperation with the MAK - Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art, the Vienna Jewellery Days kick-off event will take place in the MAK’s columned hall, Stubenring 5, 1010 Vienna, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.

The event is intended as a first networking meeting: all people interested in the subject are invited to join the programme partners’ and experts’ get-together. Presenting and exploring ten contemporary positions, Jewellery Unchained: Talking About Jewellery as Art focuses on one of the most fascinating facets of contemporary jewellery production: author jewellery. Showing one piece exemplifying their work, ten jewellery artists will talk about their working methods, the materials and techniques they rely on, as well as crucial issues of the trade. The talks will be presented by an expert in the field. The public will be invited to get involved and participate in a discussion on different approaches to the subject of jewellery.
The works highlighting the ten positions at the event will be on display in the columned hall of the MAK throughout the Vienna Jewellery Days 2016.

Required application material:
- two photographs of the exemplary work: one free-form select picture, one picture showing the work worn by somebody; the material has to be high-definition and printable (300 dpi) and include the complete credits (title of work, year, measurements, material, photographer, and the necessary courtesy or copyright information)
- an artist’s statement comprising a maximum number of 500 characters
- the artist’s biography * the artist’s contact details (last name, first name, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number, website, Facebook

The open call addresses all jewellery artists active in the field of author jewellery. A jury of experts will be responsible for selecting the ten artists.
Since the selected participants’ photographs will be used for press and public relations work as well as for the social media, the material has to be free of copyright charges.
