Intro
BA (hons) Silversmithing and Jewellery Design at the Glasgow School of Art is pleased to announce it is welcoming portfolio applications for Artists in Residence. This is an opportunity for graduates to develop new work and technical skill in a collaborative and creative environment.
The successful candidates will have access to all of the workshop facilities in the silversmithing and jewellery department at GSA and in return will support students in studio projects. This unpaid position is not only an opportunity to develop your own work, but would also allow you to positively extend your CV.


Timings and Access
  • Workshop access: Monday – Friday 8.00am - 9:00pm, Saturdays 8am – 5pm
  • Session dates run from the middle of September to the middle of June (confirmed dates will be supplied). The residency will normally terminate at the end of session in June, unless by special arrangement with the Head of Department
  • Artists in Residence would normally be expected to attend for a minimum of three days per week, for the full session and assist in studio 1 day per week

Application process
If you would like to be considered for a place as Artist in Residence, please submit:
  • A CV with images (no more than 10) of current work
  • A short statement stating your academic strengths/technical skills and how you would intend to develop your work during the residency
  • All applicants must have a right to work in the UK. GSA are not able to sponsor individual visa applications. All visa applications are the responsibility of the applicant.
