Intro
The event is a new exploration rooted in the traditional Chinese jade culture and a new direction of innovation and development of contemporary jade culture. The academic forum and postgraduate essay competition held concurrently during the Exhibition is aimed to explore new life aesthetics and lifestyles after the integration between traditional culture and contemporary aesthetics.
Forum Topic
New Life · New Aesthetics · New Jade Works - International Exhibition of New Jade Works” is a new exploration rooted in the traditional Chinese jade culture and a new direction of innovation and development of contemporary jade culture. The Exhibition, with “new life” and “new aesthetics” as links, and by putting works in real-life scenarios, is designed to explore the expression modes of jades in contemporary art design, fashion art and also new literati’s lifestyles of jade appreciation, jade enjoyment, jade wearing and so on, and set the trend of jade craft creation and design research in the new era.

The academic forum and postgraduate essay competition held concurrently during the Exhibition is aimed to explore new life aesthetics and lifestyles after the integration between traditional culture and contemporary aesthetics from all-around perspectives and in a holistic manner, discuss contemporary issues of traditional crafts and study the road map and new patterns of innovative development of jade culture in the new era. This forum and competition will build an open and interactive platform for jade craft creation and jade culture research that combines practice with the academic research, allowing new jade creators and researchers to better present and disseminate their works and achievements, putting emerging scholars' academic research and essay-writing ability into test, and look into the humanistic and aesthetic life in the new era.

The competition is co-sponsored by Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, Innovation and Academic Exchange Center of Liaoning Province for Design Postgraduates, Innovation and Academic Exchange Center of Liaoning Province for Fine Arts Postgraduates, and guided by China Society of Anthropology of Arts and the Lifestyle Design Specialty Committee of China Society for Anthropology of Arts, and  co-undertaken by Humanities School of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts (Dalian), School of Media and Animation of LuXun Academy of Fine Arts, Office of First-Class Universities and Academic Programs of LuXun Academy of Fine Arts, and Graduate School of LuXun Academy of Fine Arts. It is also strongly supported by Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, China Academy of Art, Chinese National Academy of Arts, Nanjing University of the Arts, Gemmological Institute of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and academic journals including Zhuangshi (Decoration), National Arts, Arts and Design Research, Art Work, Journal of Guizhou University (Art), Tiangong, Art and Design, Chinese Art, etc. The selection, review and discussion of the competition will be held by an academic committee composed of experts and scholars from the above-mentioned institutions. All activities will be carried out under the principles of fairness, openness and justice and the standards of academic ethics and academic ability. We hereby solicit the submission of papers by master and doctoral students from domestic and foreign universities!

Scope of Topic Selection
 A) Innovative development of traditional jade (including agate, crystal, emerald, sapphire, ruby, opal, etc) culture in the new era;
 B) New exploration of jade (including agate, crystal, emerald, sapphire, ruby, opal, etc) craft materials and technology;
 C) New contemporary aesthetic paradigm of jade (including agate, crystal, emerald, sapphire, ruby, opal, etc) culture;
 D) Contemporary life aesthetics and lifestyle research;
 E) Research on the contemporary issues of traditional craftsmanship.

Essay Requirements
1. Word count: 5000-10000
2. The submitted manuscripts should not be formally published or released, and the originality should be guaranteed.
3. The document should be in Word format.
4. All pictures should be in .jpg or .jpeg format, clear, numbered and with legend provided.
 
Format Requirements
1. Title (no more than 20 Chinese characters)
2. Author's name
3. Author's unit
4. Chinese abstract (no more than 300 Chinese characters)
5. English abstract
6. Keywords (3-5, separated by semicolons)
7. English keywords
8. Body (Chinese: Song Ti, 12 pt, single-spaced, first line indented with 2 Chinese characters; English: Times New Roman)
9. Illustration (mark the serial number of the picture [Figure X] in the corresponding position; all the pictures should be attached separately, with their file names corresponding to the serial number in the text)
10. Notes (manually enter the superscript note number [x] in the corresponding position, with the note text provided at the end of the text)
11. References (references in the paper should be recorded in accordance with "GB7714-2015 Information and Document Reference Recording Rules", with the list of references provided at the end of the article)
12. Legend (corresponding to the serial number of the picture, with the text provided at the end of the text)
13. Introduction to the author (including name, title or education, representative research achievements, contact information)

Evaluation Method
The essay competition consists of two stages: preliminary evaluation and re-evaluation. The evaluation committee is responsible for the evaluation. The preliminary evaluation is conducted anonymously by a jury group composed of members of the academic committee of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, focusing on the topic selection, writing format, research achievements, etc. All essays will be ranked by scores from high to low, and the top 30% will be re-evaluated.
The re-evaluation is conducted anonymously by the high-level academic forum and postgraduate essay competition organizing committee composed of domestic and foreign experts and scholars, focusing on research achievements, academic value and innovation. Finally, the overall ranking will be determined by the margin of the re-evaluation scores.
 
Acceptance and Publication
The competition has set up 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 5 Excellence Awards. The specific date and arrangement of the award ceremony will be notified at a later date.
The competition organizing committee and academic committee will issue certificates to the authors of the award-winning essays, and recommend the essays to be published in the academic journals under the academic guidance units of the competition, and pay the full page charges for the accepted articles.
