The Jewelry major was established in 2004. Alongside Glass art, ceramic art it belongs to the department of Ceramic and Handcrafts of Public Art college of China Academy of Art. We offer students four years of bachelor program and three years of master. We consider two main methodologies as our teaching guide by respecting traditional Chinese culture as well as to research on a new form of contemporary Chinese jewelry. There are various labs of sculpture, glass, ceramics, lacquer that provides sufficient support on materials design and handcrafts training to the jewelry studio. Through a rigorous program, students learn to think individually, master the basic design method and diverse techniques to create a complete piece of work. In addition, they will develop an understanding to meet the traditional Chinese handcrafts and contemporary jewelry.
History:

Thus, fine arts has been put to the height of religion in this institution for almost eight decades. The academy has fostered many renowned artists who have became major artistic forces in the country.

This work is the result of my memories of my childhood dreams. I am now almost no longer dream, maybe I made a dream but will forget after wake up. But in my memory, my childhood is more than a dream. I am very timid, happened during the day a little bit scared, will have nightmares at night. And when I recall the past, it was as if I had stood looking down in midair, the dream is no longer clear. They are mostly happened in my growth environment, because of reality which has been changed during the day, make the reality into a surreal. So I decided to make a "small world", the small world of dreams. Quick dry cement quality of a material is loose, it is easy to be broken, so I made a brass frame first and make it connected to the part of a brooch, then pouring concrete into a mold, to hide the framework. The wood part is:on the small wood rub white latex, and then coat with cement powder with sandpaper, so integrating them and cement.

The piece I was inspired by the relationship between men and women, a man and a woman is itself an inseparable yet contradictory combination, I passed wood wrapped in barbed wire, it reflects a desire to break free, but not free. This series of works each chip with a different arrangement, it means different things. I hope that it can express different feelings between men and women.

When it comes to dream, everyone has “another me” in his or her heart where both beauty and darkness are acceptable, These unconscious desires are not just resting quietly in the human mind.
I have dreamed the same dream many times, In my dream, I was a member of the Earth escort, When patrolling at the beach, I was attacked by a gigantic octopus. The octopus wrapped around my body, but it seemingly meant no harm and tried to talk with me. Its magic attraction to me is unforgettable.
I started from my beloved animated film about dream, “Paprika” directed by Kon Satoshi. It is a colorful surrealism animated film. I used the method of surrealism and abstract to embody my dream in the form of jewelry. The tenuous relationship between dream and self is corresponding to the interactive relationship between jewelry and body.
The plasticity, permeability and texture of silicone can better show the octopus’s characteristics of soft and ductile. I used the attractive pink and orange as the overall tone. Pearls, corals and zircons are embedded in the sucker of octopus, which makes this kind of marine life more vivid and interesting. The overall texture is fluid, as if it is interacting with the wearer.
The whole work is a honey dream. The wearer would like to care for this jewelry as tender as a baby. Once you wear it, it feels like entering a dream the work brings you.

Ancient Chinese story of "Chuang tzu's dream", I do not know is Zhuangzi dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming himself into the Zhuang Zi, it is difficult to distinguish between dream and the real world, the dream world of our own can control it? Why sometimes the dream there will be continuity? Dream occurred successively in the story, the succession of fragments, the link between fragments is my works about dreams of starting point.
Whether the dream is their own minds edited out of the story?? I used metal woven in this performance to express the subjective control of dreams in question. Using staining transparent plastic film dream fantasy and fragments of intertwined.

I chose forensic identity because I prefer to see on crime detective novels or movies, I think forensics is one of fear and exciting career. Forensic pathologists need regular contact with dead bodies, kind of creepy, but as from clues found on the bodies, will be step by step, the detection of the case and make high spirits. Two layout so I can convert to observe the wound under the magnifying glass to reflect the identity of forensic.
