Founded in 1959, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology is the only public university in China that is named after clothes. There are 9 full-time undergraduate colleges, 8 Category Authorized Discipline of Master' s Degree, 2 Professional Degree Authorized Discipline, and 1 Program for Training Doctoral Talents to Serve National Special Needson “Rescue, Heritage and Innovation of Chinese Traditional Costume Culture”, and 4 key construction disciplines in Beijing. The overall student number is more than 8,700, of which 5900 are undergraduates, more than 1,000 are postgraduates, more than 180 are foreign students, and more than 1,700 are students in adult education. Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology includes9 second-level colleges, 29 undergraduate majors, 4 double-degree majors, 8research institutionsat the levels of Beijing, as well as of Ministry of Education.
