Intro
MAD-Research, research institute of PXL-MAD School of Arts (PXL University College) and the Faculty of Architecture & Arts (Hasselt University), is looking for full-time PhD-students in the Visual arts (for a period of 4 years).
The doctoral student will implement his/her research at PXL-MAD School of Arts (PXL University College/Hasselt University). Promotion of the PhD will be at Hasselt University. 

Job content
We will be happy to evaluate any autonomous proposal or application related to: 
- Our master programs in fine arts, object & jewelry and graphic design 
- … or to our educational master in audiovisual and visual arts 
- … and related to our existing research domains FRAME, MANUFrACTURE and/or READSEARCH

The research proposal is a research in the arts: the role of the own (educational) artistic or design practice should be made explicit in the research project.


Profile
  • Applicants must hold (or complete during the current academic year 2018-2019) a master’s degree in the audiovisual or visual arts or a master’s degree in education, but with relevance towards the arts (or equivalent).
  • Final-year students are (likewise) encouraged to apply.
  • The investigative and experimental approach within an artistic/design discipline (or artistic educational practice).
  • Actively working on the development of an own artistic/design oeuvre (or artistic educational practice).
  • You are skilled in project-planning.
  • Communicative skills (communication concerning the own artistic research and its context).
  • English at level B1 (a minimal requirement).

Offer
You will be appointed and paid as a PhD student.
We offer you a doctoral grant for 2 x 2 years (on the condition of a positive evaluation after 2 years).

Selection procedure
You can only apply online up to and including 03 June 2019.
The selection procedure consists of a preselection based on the application file and an interview.
