DEADLINE: 01/05/2022

Imagine a space where a hundred jewellery enthusiasts gather for four days to listen to artist talks, be inspired, inspire others, feed off each other’s energy, eat and drink together, camp together and generally strengthen the foundations of the international contemporary jewellery community.
This is the Haxthäuser Hof Jewellery Symposium, formerly known as Zimmerhof, held on a fruit farm near Ingelheim am Rhein outside of Mainz nearby Frankfurt.
Dates: 26.05.2022 – 29.05.2022
This year’s symposium programme, titled “Follow your Bliss” was put together by Claudia Hoppe and David Huycke, who have a vast network of extraordinary artist acquaintances to draw upon.
This year’s speakers are:
Robert Baines, AUS, Aldo Bakker, NL, Kim Buck, DK, Nedda El-Asmar, BE, Mirjam Hiller, DE, Lore Langendries, BE, Eva Olde Monnikhof, BE, Marc Monzo, ES, Anneleen Swillen, BE, Christel Trimborn, DE, Nicole Walger, DE, Julia Wild, DE.
Language of artist talks: English
Organizational Details:
The price includes artist talks as well as three daily meals (vegetarian option available), and for a small extra fee you are allowed to camp (mobile showers will be provided) either in large communal tents or you may bring your own tent. Accommodation outside of Haxthäuser Hof must be organized by yourself.
Please speak to our team if you need help navigating public transport.
Cost:
Professionals: All days: € 310 / Single day: € 100.
Students: All days: € 200 / Single day: € 85.
Camping: € 8 / night to be paid cash on arrival.
The magic of this space goes beyond the artist talks, it is in the sense of community that is reinforced, a sense of creative freedom and generous mutual support and room for experimentation and general acceptance. Essential ingredients for this magic potion are camp fires, a dance floor, a well-stocked bar with very affordable beverages, delicious meals at long tables, large quantities of caffeine, very little sleep, (hopefully) splendid early summer weather, and many, many stories from all kinds of creative souls.

This year’s symposium programme, titled “Follow your Bliss” was put together by Claudia Hoppe and David Huycke, who have a vast network of extraordinary artist acquaintances to draw upon.
For the artist and designer there is no other way than to follow one’s passion – since without passion you can’t make it anywhere. At the same time, there is also something like reality. Getting somewhere is one thing, staying there, building a career and making a living of it is another. During the symposium ‚follow your bliss‘ we will look openly into the wide scope of jewellery-, product- and object-making and discover the different positions, from the artistic expression through unique pieces as well as serial production.
Every domain has its specific tricks of the trade or unspoken rules to follow and we are eager to learn what they are and what they mean. Questions will be posed such as: Is it necessary to compromise to build a successful career in the arts/design? Or is the way to success the way of the heart? And what does being successful mean anyway? Does one have to work hard to make it or is it not work anymore if you really follow your bliss?
We are eager to hear the stories of our international speakers about conscious decisions, lucky coincidences, times of doubt and times of bliss.
