Date: 28 July 2026 from 13:00 to 16:00
About the workshop
Have you ever wondered how metal objects are made?
In this exciting family workshop, children and adults work together to transform a favourite toy into a real pewter keepsake using traditional sand-casting techniques.
Working in a professional jewellery workshop, you'll create a mould from your chosen toy and discover how molten pewter is poured into the mould, capturing every detail in metal. Once cast, you'll reveal, clean and finish your piece, creating a unique metal version of a treasured toy to take home.
No previous jewellery-making, metalworking or casting experience is required.
What you'll Learn
- During the workshop you'll discover:
- How traditional sand casting works
- How to create a mould from a toy figure
- How molten pewter is safely poured into a mould
- How to reveal and remove your casting
- Basic filing and finishing techniques
- The fundamentals of metal casting and mould making
What to bring?
Please bring a small toy figurine that you would like to transform into metal. Maximum size: 4.5 cm.
We recommend bringing two or three options in case one is unsuitable for mould making.
This course is delivered as part of our Summer School programme.
Please read the Terms & Conditions before booking the course.
