Intro
A hands-on workshop taught by Don Friedlich. Move between the cold shop and kilns to explore innovative new approaches to working with dichroic glass.
Dates: July 9-16, 2023
Technique: Cold Working, kiln forming, slumping into custom made molds, sandblasting
Level: All Levels. No glassworking experience is required.
Duration: One-Week Session
Class size: Limited to just 6 students
Price: $975

A full foundation of cold working processes will be established including inventive approaches to sandblasting. From there, move to slumping and use the versatile and affordable Cricut Cutter machine to make custom drop-out molds and use borosilicate sheet glass as a tool to slump 96 COE glass (Yes, that's possible). UV-cured and epoxy adhesives will also be covered.
By working small, one can efficiently investigate new ideas, acquire broader skills, and make forms that can be studies for larger work or finished as jewelry. This week will be rich with information that’s relevant for the beadmaker, glass jeweler, and sculptor alike, and we’ll have some laughs along the way.
