Bio

Claire Webb is currently Assistant Professor of Jewelry and Metalsmithing at the University of Oregon in Eugene. She received an MFA from SUNY New Paltz in 2021.
Her research utilizes the expressive potential of unexpected material combinations and transformations to examine fundamental human needs and desires. Claire has shown work with a number of institutions including Galerie Lewis in Quebec, Baltimore Jewelry Center, Brooklyn Metal Works, Melton Gallery, and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.

Statement

Centering around materials—their physical, aesthetic, cultural, and evocative properties and potential—my practice utilizes unexpected material manipulations, forms, and juxtapositions to examine the relationships between human inquiry, curiosity, and wonder, and our most fundamental needs and desires.
