Faye is a designer maker based in the UK. After graduating from the Glasgow School of Art, she worked for over 12 years creating tactile fabrics for high end fashion and interior textile clients, before focussing her practice more on jewellery. She exhibits her work globally and is part of the Crafts Council UK and EU alumni.

My current practice involves creating bold and distinctive jewellery that explores using embroidery as both a secure joining and decorative tool, with no internal connections. I like to harmoniously join various materials of differing weights, forms, origins and colours through stitching to create wearable objects that explore surface, colour and tactile qualities. My pieces are informed by preliminary textile collages, which hold the same value for me as the completed outcome and allow me to explore materiality and scale in a different way.
All my pieces are unique and are developed intuitively, whilst always seeking to make the best of my colour and texture combinations. I like to make wearables that evoke a conversation and that are small sculptures in their own right, linking to their textile art origins.
I like to create work that has as interesting and well-crafted a reverse as the front, and enjoy creating contrasting characters for the two sides also, sometimes reversible for the wearer. I select materials from a wide variety; often using industry scraps, or natural and found materials to contrast with precious metals and gems. I enjoy juxtaposing materials that wouldn’t ordinarily work together, but through embroidery and placement I seek to find harmony.
