In my work I combine traditional goldsmith's craftsmanship with textile techniques. Swapping colorful threads for precious metals, I’m trying to translate a traditional folkcraft technique into a modern form of art. I’m inspired by the natural world. I’m particularly fascinated by the underwater world – undulating coral reefs and flowing, glistening jellyfish. It’s a real spectacle of shapes and colors! I also like to see the world through the lenses of a microscope; human cells, viruses, bacteria that form complicated dimensional structures, seemingly chaotic, yet in the end encompassed by mathematical order. That is also the rule for my jewelry. I allow the wire to weave freely, but I always limit it with a geometrical form.I like the lightness, transparency and airiness of my jewelry. I like to imagine that the “piece of jewelry” is not just the woven wire, but the space closed between, encompassed by its strands. So, this is exactly the kind of play. Judging a piece we should always have the dilemma: we are looking at the solid matter or just some airforms. The interaction between “something” and “nothing” is always fundamental "here”.
