Martin Grosman

Bio

Martin Grosman is a sculptor, jeweller and teacher from the Czech Republic. Graduated from the department of Design of metal and jewellery in 2014 at West Bohemia University. Martin Grosman enjoys exploring new materials and his work is essential to transcend previous conventions when experimenting with technique, material and form. In 2019 he won the Master of Crystal Award and in 2020 he was nominated for the Czech Grand Design Awards in the Jeweler of the Year category. Also, His works have been selected for exhibitions in Poland, Hungary, Italy and Slovakia.

Statement

Martin Grosman tries to reflect current social and environmental issues in his work. However, the seriousness of the topics that attract the author's attention does not prevent him from using humour, exaggeration, irony, and mystification. In jewellery making, his work is characterised by experimentation and a preference for unconventional materials.
He is the curator of the exhibition project MOON Gallery in Liberec and the lyricist and singer of the punk band Scalp.
