Sofia Bankeström, jewellery artist based in Gothenburg, Sweden, holds a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from HDK-Valand (2017). She has since explored and developed work in wood, glass, resin and stone. Drawing is important in Bankeströms work and she teaches drawing and painting at several institutions on a regular basis.
Statement
I make objects that narrate thoughts about time, materiality and transience. By making, drawing and investigating I want to seize short moments in something wearable and tactile - I give them solid form and weight. Intuitively removing material to see what is inside. Filling a negative space to let the void materialize. Changing the conditions to see what will emerge in front of me.- Mail:
