Intro
The Museum of Craft and Design is pleased to present Iris Eichenberg: Where Words Fail, a comprehensive mid-career survey of Eichenberg’s work.
The first west coast solo museum exhibition for the artist, Where Words Fail encompasses works from across her career, including new work, and highlights the scope of thought-provoking jewelry, objects, and powerful installations for which she is known.

Best known in international jewelry and metalsmithing circles, Eichenberg has made an enormous contribution as an artist and educator. The Art Jewelry Forum awarded her the highly prestigious Susan Beech Mid-Career Artist Grant in 2021.

In today’s world with its outcry for social justice, her work merits particular attention. Addressing significant current issues such as identity, gender politics, and Heimat—a German word denoting the personal happiness and fulfillment found upon reaching a safe haven—the show Iris Eichenberg: Where Words Fail is particularly timely.
