In Macau, a city where Eastern and Western cultures blend harmoniously, the historical narrative unfolds gradually through its blue and white architecture. Since the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, under Portuguese colonial rule, this land has nurtured a unique urban landscape. Portuguese tile decorations on the buildings have become precious carriers of Macanese and Portuguese history and local customs.
The exhibition The Poetic Lines of Architecture: Blue and White aims to explore the aesthetics and cultural significance of Macau’s architecture through the lens of art. Drawing inspiration from their personal life experiences, the artists will merge metalwork with contemporary jewellery art to transform Macau’s most iconic sceneries into wearable “poems.” Each piece is like a unique verse, interpreting the harmony between architectural forms and colours, expressing a deep emotional connection to the land.
The works in the exhibition not only reflect Macau’s historical background but also celebrate the city’s distinctive character. The contrast of blue and white symbolizes cultural fusion, guiding viewers on a journey through time and space, where visuals and emotions intertwine. Through these metalwork pieces, we hope that viewers will feel the soul of Macau and experience the subtle connections between architecture and life, history and memory.
Opening Hours: 12:00 - 21:00h daily.
Closed every Tuesday.
