In thinking about the in-betweens I turned and almost saw it. A shape without a shape, a humming in the air that only movement might reveal. It stands in the periphery, holding up its silver hares, keeping solemn vigil. It is your shadow, and it is mine. Beating down chalk-white clay paths, always there, never seen, and knowing what you know.

Since ancient times jewellery has had a strong connection to ritual, symbol, sorcery and religion. Steven Gordon Holman grew up in Utah where the culture is characterized by the wild desert and where many people still have a close relationship to nature, hunting, and gathering. Holman’s work combines aesthetics of contemporary culture and modern materials with pre-historic themes and symbols – talismans with a still unknown meaning and magic.
