Intro
Sustainable, eco-friendly, responsible are all terms used freely within the jewellery industry today. But how ethical can we truly say our industry is now?

Fair Luxury, in collaboration with the Goldsmiths' Centre, will welcome professionals from across the jewellery, silversmithing and allied industries to the landmark conference, The State of Sustainability in the Jewellery Industry.
Almost 10 years on from Fair Luxury’s first conference in 2016, this event returns to the Goldsmiths’ Centre in London and will reflect the industry’s progress and act as a catalyst for positive change within businesses and supply-chains.
The conference will bring together expert speakers to discuss the progress which has been made over the last decade in mining of gold and gemstones, human rights and conditions, and what we, as well as crucial organisations, makers and manufacturers, have been doing to spur change. The programme will include panel discussions exploring carbon emissions, sustainable manufacturing and responsible marketing and communications.

Confirmed speakers include, with more to be announced:
  • Joanna Hardy: Jewellery Advisor and Trade Warden of the Goldsmiths’ Company, Fellow of the Gemmological Association, Historic and Contemporary Jewellery Lecturer.
  • Aastha Sethi: Head of Sustainability at Boodles.
  • Kerry Saunders: Operations director at Weston Beamor.
  • Greg Valerio MBE: Founder & Director of PeaceGold.
  • Cristina Villegas: Director of Sustainable Jewellery at Pact.
  • Jamie Moore: Marketing director at Positive Luxury.
  • Emma Beckett: Founder of EBPR (Emma Beckett PR).
  • Chris Hocknell: Director of Eight Versa and Natural Carbon Solutions.
  • Saskia Shutt: Ethical jewellery designer.
  • Charlie Cotton: Founder of ecollective.
  • Jos Skeates: Founder of EC One, Trustee of the Goldsmiths’ Centre, and Assistant to the Court of Goldsmiths’ Company.
  • Alex Monroe: Founder of Alex Monroe Jewellery, Trustee of the Goldsmiths' Centre, and a Liveryman of the Goldsmiths' Company.

The Fair Luxury conference is a crucial opportunity to reflect on what we, as an industry, have achieved over the last decade, review learnings, and importantly recognise the significant efforts still needed to ensure the jewellery supply chain is a fair and safe place for all involved.
/ Victoria Waugh, Fair Luxury team member and co-founder of V&V, responsible fashion and jewellery consultancy.

This event is designed to feature voices from around the world, and from the UK. It provides attendees with invaluable time to learn from experts, connect and collaborate with peers committed to change. To encourage open, honest discussion and protect confidentiality, this event will not be recorded so attendance is essential.

About Fair Luxury
Fair Luxury is a collaboration of jewellery industry changemakers, designers, makers, traders, retailers, advocates and educators, with a vision for a responsible and sustainable future. Each member of Fair Luxury believes that when jewellery is produced responsibly, it can provide sustainable livelihoods for all involved – from the miners of raw materials right through the supply chain to the ultimate designer or retailer of the finished piece. In our mind’s eye, the jewellery industry of the future is one which redistributes wealth fairly and does not place an unsustainable level of pressure on our planet’s vital ecosystems.
