Intro
The special edition of Premio Fondazione Cominelli 2017/2018 under the theme of A Jewel of a Lake is calling your work, an award for contemporary jewellery, submit your work by 18th of March, 2018.
Premio Fondazione Cominelli, Award for Contemporary Jewellery Special Edition 2017-2018
The first prize will be awarded to one of the participants selected for the “Premio Fondazione Cominelli” Special edition. 
 
Target: The exhibition was conceived as an opportunity for goldsmith artists and designers to show their work and contribute to further spreading the knowledge of contemporary jewellery. 
 
Participation: whoever wishes to take part in the exhibition may register at the following email address: the modalities are published on the website of the association.

Selection:  The selection will adopt assessment criteria that will take into consideration the goldsmith/artistic quality, the originality and contemporaneity, by accurately assessing, during the registration phase, the photographs of the pieces to be presented. The AGC will have no decisional power, nor will it have any say regarding the applications for participation, the jury coming from outside the association. 
 
Selector: Helen W. Drutt English began collecting in the 1950s, and helped found the Philadelphia Council of Professional Craftsmen in 1967. In 1973, she became the first to teach the history of modern craft on the college level, and founded the Philadelphia’s Helen Drutt Gallery, one of the first committed to crafts. Her jewelry collection belongs to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

The Award: 
Two prizes and three special mentions will be awarded. 
1° Prize € 1.500,00
2° Prize: € 1.000,00
Three special mentions: engraved award plaque 

The exhibition and the Award ceremony will take place in Cominelli Foundation.

Theme: A jewel of a Lake
Participants are asked to submit a piece of jewelry with a double function: brooch/pendant 

The Lake Garda has always been the object of artistic contemplation. Since antiquity it left a striking impression on some of the most important figures of the cultural world: from Catullo to Dante, from Goethe to Gabriele D’Annunzio, from Klimt to Maria Callas.

Its intense and bright colours, its wide horizon delimited by the peaks of the Alpine mountains, its clear light and the uniqueness of its natural flora, are all distinctive traits which can be appreciated through a multisensorial experience.
 

Conditions

Eligibility:
The competition is open to both Italian and foreign authors.

How to apply:
The size of the object (pendant/brooch) should not exceed cm: 8 x 8 cm.  
 
Materials:
Participants may use: silver, gold, high or low-temperature enamels, resin, plastic materials, polymer, bronze, copper, steel etc. The use of precious materials is not compulsory. 
 
Images:
3 low-resolution digital images of the brooch/pendant, front and back, as follows: 
Resolution: 72 dpi.
Format: jpg.
Size: minimum 15 cm.
Captions: Year, Materials, Title.
The images should have a neutral background preferably white. 
 
A brief description of the concept of the artist’s work and an updated curriculum vitae, all in English and Italian. 
For foreign participants, only in English

Texts and CVs shall be in word files, NOT in pdf.

Personal information:
Surname and name of artist, place and date of birth, phone, fax, e-mail address, website/blog. 
 
Quality, innovation and artistic research will be fundamental selection criteria. Agc holds the publication rights of texts and images with different media in order to document and promote the event and the works of the participants.

Return of the work after the exhibition:
The Foundation will take care of the shipping of the works presented by the selected authors at the end of the exhibition.  
The Cominelli Foundation and AGC Association will not take responsibility for any damage or theft due to the shipment.
The Foundation will provide insurance coverage for damage or theft during the exhibition.

Key Dates:
18th of March, 2018: Last day to subscribe the selection.
30th of April, 2018: Last day to submit the documentation relative to the object.
10th of June, 2018: The participants will be informed about the outcome of the selection via e-mail.
10th of June, 2018: Participation procedures, number of pieces to exhibit, date of shipment, etc will be communicated.
25th of August, 2018: Exhibition Opening
25th of August, 2018 - 7th of October, 2018: Exhibition
