Intro
Hands-on workshop on resin mould construction with no requirements or experience required.
Dates: 
6th, 7th , 13th & 14th June 2024. Saturday and Sunday from 10 - 13 h & 14 - 17 h.
24 hours total.

Price: 240 €
The price includes insurance and materials.
VAT-free course.
Participant keeps the pieces produced.

Objectives:
Acquire technical capacity in the production of moulds for resins.

Programme:

> Introduction to silicone (theoretical)​.
  • Safety equipment.
  • Types of silicone.
  • How to avoid or minimize silicone bubbles.
  • Sealants/release agents.

> Objects (theoretical and practical).

  • Analysis of objects (model) to create moulds.
  • General care with the objects.

> Making moulds (theoretical-practical).

  • Types of boxes for patterns, how to make boxes for patterns, auxiliary materials, patterns (open, closed with cuts, two parts).
  • Multi-parts with pattern (theoretical).

> Post-production care and maintenance of used tools and moulds (theoretical-practical).

  • Cleaning of tools and moulds.
  • How to minimize undesirable odours, hairs or other inclusions during the silicone curing process.
  • How to discard leftover silicone.

> Introduction to resin for moulds (theoretical).

  • Resin types to be used in the workshop: polyester, and epoxy.
  • How to avoid or minimize bubbles in the resin.
  • Color: types of pigments and paints.
  • Simple inclusions and care.
  • How to minimize odours, hairs or other unwanted inclusions during the resin curing process.
  • Resin integration in precast objects with and without epoxy.
  • Finishes.
  • Technical solutions for integration into final parts.

> Moulds and production of copies from the realized moulds.

  • Removing models from the different types of cured silicone moulds.
  • Copies with color and/or simple inclusions.
  • Conservation of moulds during the silicone curing.
  • Cleaning of moulds.
  • Mould conservation.

> Resin finishings (practical).

  • Safety equipment.
  • Tools.
  • Tool cleaning.
  • How to dispose of resin remnants.
  • Integration of cured resin objects into a new jewelry piece.

Who is it for:
Anyone with or without experience, wanting to learn about resin production.

Mín. / maximum students: 7/10.

Certificate: For students with at least 80% of session attendance.
