Intro
In the first workshop: Thread and Beads by Sébastien Carré, we will explore different textile techniques with the aim of associating and mixing them: beadwork with the needle in embroidery or in Peyote stitch (weaving), crochet techniques, macramé or embroidery will be approached according to your projects and desires.

In the second: Recycling by Johanna Törnqvist, we will explore different plastic waste materials for recycling, using mainly sanitary waste, such as medicine packaging, and be able to transform this waste into valuable objects.
In this workshop, we will explore different textile techniques with the aim of associating and mixing them: beadwork with the needle in embroidery or in Peyote stitch (weaving), crochet techniques, macramé or embroidery will be approached according to your projects and desires. Over five days, we will train around different modules to discover or deepen the work of beading, crocheting or macramé while remaining accessible to all (beginners as well as advanced). We will also think about setting up a project that can be started during the workshop, starting from the conceptualisation of your creation by drawing or making a model and giving you the basics to produce and finalise a work.

Right after, another workshop called Recycling will be given by Johanna Törnqvist From June 30 to July 2 2024

In this workshop, we will explore different plastic waste materials for recycling, using mainly sanitary waste, such as medicine packaging.
Using techniques such as cutting, hand and machine sewing, fusing with an iron and heat gun, we'll be able to transform this waste into valuable objects.
This workshop is all about exploration and inspiration, allowing you to experiment with new and unexpected materials. Depending on your mood, you can use the time to explore and experiment or to finalise a piece of jewellery or an object. You'll get an introduction to Johanna's work, presentations of different materials and ideas for various techniques to use.

The Swedish artist, Johanna studied at Studio Berçot in Paris. Starting out in fashion, Johanna took a diversion into craft and recycling before returning to creating jewellery and clothing from recycled materials. In her work, she seeks to transform worthless objects into valuable ones.

Special discount for early birds booking until 21 January: 300€ (100€ deposit).

Accommodation in Mounaval :
In the barn, in a dormitory of 4/5 people, comfortable beds. €15 per person per night.
In the Tipi tents, 2/3 people, comfortable mattresses: €20 per person per night.
For those who want a different level of comfort, several gites are nearby.

Mounaval is an old family farm built during the Revolution where vines were grown. This reinvented place is home to Harry's cycle restoration workshop, a Bavarian with a passion for bicycles, as well as the studio of the visual artist Babette Boucher. This is our living space.
"Le sel de la main" was born twenty years ago during a wild residency between friends in Burgundy and was finally born in Marrakech, where we lived for a few years. The workshops were finally organised in Mounaval, a small place with 6 hectares of forest, nestled on a hillside with a view of the Pyrenees.

Calm, rurality, nature, orchard, vegetable garden, river, swimming, hiking, starry nights... so many words that set the scene for a relaxing stay. Here, you can stay for a course or a residence in all simplicity. The barn has been transformed into a comfortable dormitory. Spacious tents set in the chestnut grove offer simple and eco-responsible comfort. The toilets and shower are in the house, while the dry toilets and shower are outside.

Summer workshop:
From mid-May to mid-September, a dozen different workshops are organised. Each workshop and residency offers a hands-on learning experience, focusing on materials and techniques that emphasise creativity and personal expression.

Terms and conditions:
Payment will be made on the spot on arrival in Mounaval, in cash, or by transfer to the Du sel de la main account. A deposit will be requested when booking online, refundable if the workshop is cancelled or a maximum of 15 days before the start of the workshop; after this date, the deposit will not be refunded.

Food and Drink:
Meal times are fixed to allow the group to get together. Depending on the weather, they take place outdoors or indoors in our communal space with an open and friendly kitchen where the cooking workshops also take place. Food is served as a buffet: creative and healthy dishes, mainly Mediterranean with a vegetarian focus, for lunch and dinner. Special dishes are prepared for people who announce their allergies or diets in advance.
We favour local products; a large part of the fruit and vegetables come from the vegetable garden and orchard of Mounaval. Alcoholic drinks are not included in the price. As an extra, we offer a regional wine as well as homemade beer produced in Mounaval.

How to get there:
Mounaval is located in Varen in the Tarn et Garonne, between the towns of Albi, Gaillac and Villefranche de Rouergue.
The nearest train station is Lexos or Laguépie, where we will pick you up.

Le Sel de la Main * The salt of the hand
The association Le sel de la main is an invitation to learn and discover various techniques and knowledge. It brings together people from all walks of life, driven by a common passion: to create and experiment together.
The focus is on artistic creation, but not only. Traditional craft techniques, such as basketry, cooking, graphic arts or jewellery making, are explored and shared.
Le sel de la main offers the opportunity to participate in residencies and workshops where one can immerse oneself in one's favourite field but also discover new disciplines. These moments of sharing and exchange are particularly rich and allow everyone to progress in their practice.
But Le sel de la main is not limited to artistic and craft practices. The association also offers a real natural setting on the Mounaval estate to recharge one's batteries and find oneself. A time for oneself outside the daily routine, allowing each person to take the time to refocus on their deepest aspirations.
Le sel de la main offers creative and rejuvenating holidays to take care of yourself. Far from the stresses and strains of everyday life, these privileged moments allow you to find yourself in a serene environment conducive to inspiration.
In short, Le sel de la main is a real place for sharing and exchange, where everyone can develop their passion and recharge their batteries in complete peace of mind.
