Miriam Arentz is a Berlin based jewellery artist. After studying cultural studies in Berlin she finished her degree in Metal design at the HAWK Hildesheim with Professor Georg Dobler in 2005. She has participated in several group exhibitions, competitions and fairs around Europe. Since 2018 she is part of the project Schmuck verbindet in the Museum of technology in Berlin where she teaches old manufacturing techniques to students and jewellery artists.

My latest love in jewellery making is the old engraving technique called Guilloche. It is a decorative technique in which a very precise, intricate and repetitive pattern is mechanically engraved into an underlying material via engine turning. It is an extinct craft and I love to breath new life into it. When used in a free way the possibilities of creating new patterns are endless. Historically it was often used in combination with enamel, in some of my pieces I follow that tradition.
