Intro
The edition piece consists a book, and a box with a butterfly brooch, all together in a white cardboard cassette. The 20 butterflies are all different, and chose from the book ”Collecting Butterflies”. The boxes/butterflies are signed and numbered. ”Collecting Butterflies” is an ongoing project and has been on show in several international museums and galleries.
The edition piece consists on a book, and a box with a butterfly brooch, all together in a white cardboard cassette. The 20 butterflies are all different, and chose from the book ”Collecting Butterflies”. The boxes/butterflies are signed and numbered.

The book and the limited edition was made in coincide with Karin Johansson´s solo exhibition at the Röhsska Museum for Fashion, Design and Decorative Arts in Gothenburg in October 2011. ”Collecting Butterflies” is an ongoing project and has been on show in several international museums and galleries. The book ”Collecting Butterflies” , designed by Happy F&B, has earned several prizes for it´s conceptual and innovative design.

Collecting means not just procuring things. It is also about cherishing the dream of a totality transcending its parts, of a collection larger than oneself. As a phenomenon, collecting is coupled with an urge to order and arrange things, establish connections, and create images. In all this, the notion of growth and increase is elementally present. For a true collector, collecting will never end and the collection will never be complete...
