The second GRK Magazine. It was such a busy year that we had to extend the period between editions to 16 months. Publication at the start of September coincides with the start of the new cultural season in Amsterdam; the magazine marks two and a half years of Galerie Rob Koudijs.
The second magazine, the second year of Galerie Rob Koudijs. It was such a busy year that we had to extend the period between editions to 16 months, especially because we did not want to omit ‘Collect’ – the international fair for applied art in London – from this magazine. Publication at the start of September coincides with the start of the new cultural season in Amsterdam.
We celebrated the gallery’s first birthday with four short exhibitions under the title of ‘Impulses’. In addition to our regular solo presentations, we
organised for the second time a jewellery exhibition at the new Public Library in Amsterdam. Furthermore, artists from our gallery had their work exhibited for a full year at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in The Hague. Four designers presented by Galerie Rob Koudijs acquired a studio in the Red Light Design project. As a result of his exhibition with us, Frédéric Braham was offered an exhibition at Maison Descartes in Amsterdam. Several lectures, a book launch and a prize presentation were hosted by the gallery. The possibility to make use of the KunstKoop
(Art Purchasing) scheme was also reinstated at the gallery.
Artists from the gallery have received prestigious awards. Ted Noten was awarded the Françoise van den Bosch prize. Following Jantje Fleischhut’s success last year, Felix Lindner won this year’s Herbert Hofmann Preis in Munich. Felieke van der Leest even received recognition twice: the French Community Prize during the Triennale Européenne du Bijou Contemporaine in Mons and, in the Netherlands, the Profielprijs, which was presented to her in the gallery.
We are happy to say that the 2008-2009 year fulfilled all our expectations, with splendid exhibitions and exciting activities both inside and outside the gallery. We wish you much pleasure as you read this retrospective.
