Intro
Wearable art is often associated with jewelry, but within the Sami culture there are many other types of wearable crafts such as knives, needle cases and hats.

Artist list

Solveig Labba, Monica Blind Påve
The two sisters, Solveig Labba and Monica Blind Påve, were raised in a Sami craftsman family and have learned different types of crafts both at home and through various craft training courses. Both draw inspiration from their own culture but develop the traditional shapes and techniques in their own way. Monica Blind Påve transforms the pattern on her father's knife into silver earrings, or enlarges it into a large steel facade decoration, and Solveig Labba interprets Sami costume hats with a milliner's technique. The two artists both interprets craft in a new way - duodji (Sami craft) coloured by both past and present.

Opening Reception: Friday November 21, 16h - 19h. The same day Solveig and Monica’s mother Anna-Maria Blind, turns 95. The exhibition, that runs until December 13, is dedicated to her.
