Overlap explores jewellery as a space of connection, dialogue, and coexistence, personal, social, and cultural. Layers touch, merge, and resonate, inviting reflection on intersections, shared experiences, and the subtle poetry of coming together.
Artist list
Miriam Bacher, Astrid Becksteiner-Rasche, Alex Binder, Chantal Corso, Ylenia Deriu, Elisabeth Drude, Veresa Eybl, Bertold Grosse, Ji Young Kim, Noah Layr, Mariagiorgia Pacini, Konstanze Prechtl, Chiara Scarpitti, Andrea Schmidt-Hirzer, Johannes Schweighofer, Claudia Steiner, Pilar Viedma, Cristian Visentin, Dorota Wilde, Yoko Takirai and Pietro Pellitteri
This open call invited contemporary jewellery artists to investigate themes of intersection, connection, and shared experience through works that engage with the body. Jewellery becomes a site where materials, forms, and ideas meet, coexist, and interact, creating dialogue between wearability, concept, and narrative.
The idea of Overlap can be interpreted on multiple levels: personal, social, political, and cultural. In this exhibition, the theme also reflects the collaboration between two associations: AGC Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo (Italy) and Plattform Schmuckkunst (Austria), highlighting points of convergence, mutual inspiration, and shared concerns.
Artists were encouraged to consider questions such as: How can jewellery tell stories of meeting points between cultures, ideas, or perspectives? How do lives, stories, or spaces intersect and resonate? Can materials, shapes, or forms suggest coexistence, tension, or harmony?
Through this lens, Overlap becomes not only a visual and formal exploration, but also a reflection on connection, collaboration, and the subtle ways in which physical, social, and symbolic elements intersect.
This open call was open exclusively to members of AGC Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo and Plattform Schmuckkunst. The project was conceived to encourage cultural exchange, strengthen professional networks, and provide artists with visibility in two significant European contexts.
A distinctive feature of the initiative is its cross-jury process: AGC representatives evaluated submissions from Plattform Schmuckkunst members, while Plattform Schmuckkunst representatives evaluated submissions from AGC members.
Judging Panel:
AGC: Eliana Negroni, Roberta Barnabei, Maria Rosa Franzin
Plattform Schmuckkunst: Stephie Morawetz, Magdalena Maslerz, Franziska Schlag
Twenty artists were selected in total, representing an equal contribution from each association.
The initial phase of the exhibition takes place in Graz, organised by Plattform Schmuckkunst, providing Austrian audiences with the chance to engage directly with jewellery artists from both associations.
You are warmly invited to the opening event on 2 May 2026, 17:00.
A live Instagram tour of the exhibition will take place on 3 May 2026, 19:00 via the Plattform Schmuckkunst Instagram account.
The second stage of the exhibition will be hosted in Milan at Archivio Negroni during Milano Jewelry Week 2026.
Project supported by AGC – Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo and Plattform Schmuckkunst. Hosted by Plattform Schmuckkunst @Atelier Schmuckes and Archivio Negroni.
Sponsored by Stadt Graz & Land Steiermark
