Intro
«Handwerk & Design» presents skilled craftsmanship, first-class fine arts and design, but it also offers a platform to those with a design orientation who cross between these areas. The highlights are the special shows EXEMPLA, TALENTE, SCHMUCK and MEISTER DER MODERNE.
«Handwerk & Design» presents skilled craftsmanship, first-class fine arts and design, but it also offers a platform to those with a design orientation who cross between these areas. Particular value is attached to the cooperation with a number of technical colleges who contribute to making the link between crafts, fine arts and design visible, tangible and comprehensible.

With the participation of various German arts and crafts associations, international joint stands and galleries, «Handwerk & Design» shows contemporary crafts, jewellery, applied art and design as well as individual fashion. The highlights are the special shows EXEMPLA, TALENTE, SCHMUCK and MEISTER DER MODERNE.

SCHMUCK
This forum for contemporary jewellery is renowned as an international showroom. Inspiring works by around 60 goldsmiths from over 25 countries will await you. Some of the exhibited works are by young goldsmiths who are still in training, others by well established and well known jewellery designers. Every year, outstanding jewellery designers are recognised by the internationally renowned Herbert Hofmann award.

“FRAME” GALLERIES
Well-known galleries operating at an international level specialising in jewellery, ceramics and textiles present themselves within the direct environment of the special shows, giving «Handwerk & Design» an even more distinguished profile by their simple presence.

“GEPLANT+AUSGEFÜHRT”-AWARD
Dedicated to the congenial interaction inbetween handicraft and architecture, «Handwerk & Design» will honouring the most impressive joint project for the second time.

MEISTER DER MODERNE
Contemporary works by internationally renowned craftspeople and masters of the applied arts: around 32 artists from 12 different countries will be exhibiting a range of creations from the categories of glass, wood, ceramics, metal, textiles and jewellery.

TALENTE
What ideas do the younger generation have?
TALENTE is an international competition for showcasing young craftspeople in the fields of design and technology. In 2014, around 95 exhibits from 27 countries will be on display. The exhibits are characterised by pioneering uses of materials and craft techniques. And for the best young professionals, there is the coveted TALENTE award.

EXEMPLA
The theme of Exempla 2014 is “Partnerships”. Teamwork is a fundamental principle of craftsmanship. Be it the traditional set up of master craftsman, assistant and apprentice or new set ups that have arisen in this time of change and which have led to the establishment of new job structures and new working procedures. Working together as a partnership enables one to provide mutual support and promote successful development. Exempla 2014 will single out a number of topics related to design and technology which are typical of this.
