Intro
Goldsmiths, silversmiths, metalworkers and designers from Germany and abroad as well as students and trainees are invited to participate. Each participant can submit a maximum of two works. A work may consist of several parts; teamwork between designer and performer is permitted. The works must have been created between 2020 and 2022.
Call for entries for the 20th Silver Triennial 2022
Invited to participate in the main competition and the Youth Prize (for those born in 1984 and younger), are silversmiths, metal artists, and designers, both domestic and foreign, as well as students and apprentices.

Theme / Material
New design ideas for silver hollow and flatware as cutlery. Jewelry will not be accepted. Participants submit their work to the main competition or to the young talent competition (born 1987 and younger). The works must be made of silver, other materials are permitted as complements. Students and trainees are allowed to submit silver-plated pieces, unique pieces, and prototypes for later serial production are permitted.

The Silver Triennial has been organized since 1965 by the Gesellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst (Association for Goldsmiths’ Art) and the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau (German Goldsmiths’ House) to promote contemporary silversmith art. The Silver Triennial has gained worldwide recognition through national and international exhibition programs.

The jury will be select the prizewinners and the exhibition participants. The decision of the jury is final with no legal recourse.


Contest Procedure
The selection of the works (prizewinning and exhibition pieces) will take place during two separate meetings of the jury, a photo-jury, and an object jury.

1. Photo-jury:
The following must be received in Hanau no later than June 3, 2022:
Completed application form
Short biography (digital)
Printable, digital photo data of the work/s on a CD-ROM (tif or psd, minimum size 2500 x 2500 pixels, with photo copyright identification)
After the photo jury, the selected participants will be notified and requested to ship their work/s.

2. Object-jury:
The work/s selected by the jury must be received in Hanau no later than July 11, 2022.

Entries from Germany / EU countries
Entries must arrive at the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau, Altstädter Markt 6, D-63450 Hanau, Germany, postpaid and be accompanied by a copy of the completed registration form.

Entries from non-EU countries
Entries must arrive at the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau, Altstädter Markt 6, D-63450 Hanau, Germany, postpaid. Each entry must be accompanied by three photos or photocopies, as well as three copies of the registration form (for customs clearance). The declaration of value must be in euros. The objects must be declared as exhibition objects, not as salable goods. The entries can be sent by mail or through a shipping company. If they are delivered by a shipping company, please be certain that they are declared as exhibition objects and not as merchandise. The German Goldsmiths´ House will take care of the customs clearance.

Youth promotion contest:
1st Prize: 3.500 €   Lions Club Hanau Prize.

3rd Prize: 1.000 €   Lions Club Hanau Prize.
4th Prize: 1kg Silver  Hanauer Semi-finished jewellery Silver Prize.
5th Prize: 500 €   Heimerle + Meule Silver Prize.


The selected participants will make their works available for the entire duration of the exhibition series. The value of the item in euros stated by the sender shall be deemed to be the insured value. The insured value may not exceed €20,000 per consignment. The selling price in euros must be stated for each work submitted, provided the work is saleable. The organiser's insurance coverage begins with the arrival of the work/s and ends at the time the consignment is received back by the consignee. In case of damage, compensation will cover only the material costs and working time. The work must be of such a nature that it can withstand repeated packing and unpacking. Large silverware must be packed in a wooden or metal box. 
The participation fee is 50,00 € (main contest), 25,00 € (youth promotion contest).

Awards ceremony / Exhibitions / Catalog
The awards ceremony will take place on October 30, 2022 at the German Goldsmiths´ House in Hanau.
A bilingual catalogue (German/English) with illustrations of the prizewinning pieces and those selected for the exhibition will be published by Arnoldsche Art Publishers, Stuttgart, to accompany the exhibition.

Other venues:
The exhibition will be shown there until 30 December 2022, then at DIVA Antwerp (19 January to 16 April 2023), at Sparkasse Schwäbisch Gmünd (May to June 2023), at Wasserschloss Klaffenbach, Chemnitz (August to October 2023), and at Kreismuseum Zons, Dormagen (October 2023 to 21 January 2024).
