Bio
Daphne Krinos studied at Middlesex University and established her studio practice in 1982. Since then, she has been designing and creating jewellery in her distinctive and recognisable style. Her work is featured in several public and private collections.Statement
Metal is my language, and I love using oxidised or coated silver, and recycled gold. Colour is important in my practice, and I often use translucent stones in my work. I am inspired by cities, architecture, art and early animation. I enjoy photographing buildings, construction and demolition sites. The photographs by Bernd and Hilla Becher, as well as sculptures by Donald Judd, and numerous modernist painters are an inspiration.Having grown up in Greece I attribute my love of making to my grandfather who was a well-known poet, always surrounded by creative and inspiring people. Spending time with him, made me learn to appreciate materials, colours, and shapes. I was able to put all these early influences into practice after completing my design training in London. I have always strived to push myself forward with my bold and distinctive work and develop new ideas.
