Bio

As a contemporary jewelry artist who has been studying jewelry design and contemporary jewelry creation from the undergraduate to graduate level, Zixin Wei works in a university teaching metal crafts and jewelry art. Jewelry has always accompanied her learning, work, and life. She continuously expresses her ideas in a way familiar to her and communicates with the audience through her work. Contemporary jewelry design and metal object creation will always be something she will continue to do and Zixin believes that an artist's concept in their work is a reflection of their life.

Statement

In recent years, my artistic concept often reflects my thoughts on material culture and emotions, such as my works ‘Scotch Tape & Jade’ and ‘Tissue & Moonlight ‘. The inspiration for these works came from observing details in daily life. By chance, I discovered the dramatic connection between these two unrelated things, and fortunately, this connection resonated with the audience. In my work, there is both rational design and very feminine expression, which is a characteristic of my work, I think this expression will also accompany me for a long time in my creative journey…
