This catalogue shows all the selected works in this year's Talente competition which is an annual competition for new talent in the areas of design and technology organized into the Handwerk & Design exhibition.
The international special show “Talente” will turn a proud 40 years old in 2020. Established in 1980 as a special show at the International Trade Fair in Munich called “Jugend gestaltet” (Youth Designs), its express aim was to further young people in the creative trades and crafts. It was intended to supplement “Exempla”, which was reserved for major masters, by foregrounding the fresh potential of young people, most of whom were still in training or nearing its end.
After 40 years of uninterrupted presentation of this international competition, it is safe to say that there is no comparable exhibition for young designers in the world. Talente is and remains a jumping off point for professional careers. The annual catalogue is an important reference work for all the participants. In its 40 years of existence, Talente has introduced an incredible number of young creative people to the public, many of them for the first time. Many of our former participants are now recognized and award-winning artisans, artists or designers. The success and quality of the entries are influenced by the competition system. An international network of teachers from a range of schools, from trade school through college and academy, are requested to name candidates. These are supplemented by voluntary entries from around the world.
