Intro
More than sixty jewelry artists, galleries and institutions present their videos in Galerie Weltraum and Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein during Schmuck 2022 Munich.
SMCK On Reel highlights tradition and future, memory and identity, environmental destruction and material awareness, femininity and feminism, gender and social conventions. Eight Ukrainian artists tell the story of working and living in the war zone: of the spiritual experience of cameo engraving, the omnipresence of destruction and death, the consolidation of one's own identity, the determined resistance, or the ancient rituals to connect with nature.

The medium video became indispensable to artists, designers, and crafters during the pandemic. Its importance in introducing the public to the artist’s world, concepts, and thoughts remain undisputed. Reels - the art of the moving image - deploy the artist’s narrative and enable the public to indulge in the maker’s work. Jewelry not only serves as a starting point for personal stories but also as a cultural catalyst that can change social values.
