(Copenhagen Goldsmiths Guild)
The Goldsmiths’ Guild was established in 1429 and is one of the oldest documented guilds in the world. The guild was established to enforce the merit and purity of the craft. Today, the guild is a society with 143 members comprising goldsmiths, silversmiths, jewellery makers, commercial jewellers and manufacturers. The board awards grants to younger and older craftspeople in the field, supports study trips and subject-related book publications and awards medals and grants to the best newly qualified goldsmiths and silversmiths. The guild sets different admission requirements, respectively for qualified goldsmiths and silversmiths, jewellery makers and manufacturers.
Objectives
to represent the goldsmith diameters and promote its interests to the public,
to strengthen collegial unity between members,
to manage guild related grants and funds,
to help and support craftspeople within the field,
to award grants and prizes to exceptional craftspeople in the field and
to provide financial support to cultural initiatives relating to the field.
