Bio
Majoral is a vital and creative experience that began in Formentera (Balearic Islands, Spain) in the 1970s. Enric Majoral developed his work in a family setting, in contact with the nature of Formentera; a lifestyle that is reflected in his creations, of essential and Mediterranean beauty. Majoral is a family business that has established itself as a jewellery brand. All the jewellery has been designed by Enric Majoral and his son, Roc, who designs as well since 2003. The collections and unique pieces are home-produced in their own workshop, with a high demand for quality in the production process.Statement
His most personal work is creative, neither confined nor complicated by techniques or materials. Starting from the basis of intuition and experimentation as a working method he creates conceptually daring and innovative pieces which are in turn essentially modern. Refined organic forms, spontaneous lines, an almost abstract line traced on flexible metal; hollows in which inner spaces are hidden; sulek-burcu-emptiness-2015/fullness; the intimacy of a miniature architecture; or of daring to include live beings such as lichens within the piece of jewellery. A reinvention of materials, used to make unexpected shapes.Enric Majoral conceives the jewel as a form of expression and as a worldview. Experience, nature, his own roots and memories of places are the source of his work. Work and life are inseparable.
