Bio
Hilde Dramstad is a Norwegian jewellery artist. She is part of the collective ARKIVET, which is made up of five norwegian artists. Dramstad acquired her knowledge in metalwork at the Oslo Academy of the arts (MFA. and BFA). She has had a selection of solo exhibitions throughout her career and has taken part in multiple group exhibitions (In Norway and internationally), and her work can be found in all of the Norwegian public museum collections.Statement
A recurrent feature throughout my work has been the focus on the tab of life that holds surprises, humour, melancholy, nonsense and poetry. I try to achieve a poetic statement through the materials I use wood, plaster, textiles etc. The techniques are guided by surfaces and form and are subordinate to the expression and story that is to be told. I often relate to the concepts of vanity and impermanence in jewelry. It is the same thing but with different time dimensions.Stories become real and relevant when someone listens, and in order for someone to bother to listen, I have to find some keywords that capture the viewer or wearer's interest. The clues can appear as a few stitches, a vibrating colour, a fragile surface, or a perforation in a piece of fabric - elements of something you remember or have a good or bad relationship with.
