Patina Gallery, in collaboration with Charon Kransen Arts, is proud to introduce this exhibition featuring the work of masters in german metalsmithing design, Martin & Ulla Kaufmann.
Artist list
Ulla + Martin Kaufmann
From their atelier in Hildesheim, Germany, the Kaufmanns work in tandem to procure visionary works of adornment and objects of fine art. Symbiotically together, the artists marry their roots of classic modernism with contemporary design to create innovative pieces of complex ingenuity.
In the span of their over 50-year careers, the Kaufmanns have become two of the most important gold and silversmiths of our time. Their works have been featured in countless exhibitions, they have won numerous awards, and have pieces in prestigious private & museum collections.
Impeccable jewelry in high karat gold emerges from the artists’ genuine interest in their material. The Kaufmanns are widely recognized for their unparalleled forging of gold that continually astonishes and surprises the wearer. Perpetual hammering of the metal yields supple, spring-like animation to jewels, as one is able to flex the precious matter in unimaginable configurations.
In an object or a piece of jewelry, Ulla & Martin Kaufmann embrace the space. The unseen life of the wearer between its lustrous body is conceived by sheer experience and expert precision.
