StatementArt should be like a great jazz album - containing form, depth, emotion, rhythm, wit. It should converse with the audience, have a foundation stronger than mere aesthetics, but have a soul. Through explorations with concepts of nostalgia, satire, culture, and individuality, I strive to create a dialogue.
In my most recent work, I have been exploring using found objects. Using found objects, ownership and individuality are put into question. These intriguing questions stimulated me to work. My voice was found at the start. In choosing the objects I used my sensibilities and preferences. The pieces became unique. Manipulating the found objects furthered the visibility of my hand and my voice. Seen are qualities I focus upon in much of my work, bold colors, dimension and humor.
