Every year Gioielli in Fermento / Jewels in ferment aim to gather the infinitely individual expressions of contemporary jewellery makers in relation to popular themes: wine and territories, looking at this terroir as an ensemble of deep-rooted cultural values and elements.
Sunday May 4th took place the opening of Gioielli in Fermento 4th edition. Beautiful clear day made by the colours of the sky and the green hills around Piacenza (Valtidone, Italy): the show opened as every year in spring at Torre Fornello, winery of excellence in Valtidone, through the exhibition spaces dedicated to the Vineyard of Arts.
During the day Enrico Sgorbati, Torre Fornello owner, and Gualtiero Marchesi, the great master of Italian chefs as special guest, assigned the Torre Fornello - Gioielli in Fermento 2014 Award.
The jury was composed by:
Leo Caballero (Klimt02 International Art Jewellery Online director)
Maria Rosa Franzin e Gigi Mariani (goldsmith artists and AGC Direction)
Giorgio Milani (wellknown international artist based in Piacenza)
GianCarlo Montebello (professor and jewellery designer)
Paulo Ribeiro (Joya Barcelona Art Jewellery Fair director)
Antonella Villanova, (Firenze Art Jewellery gallery)
The Awards and special mentions went to:
(two prizes for the individual participation to the Joya Art Jewellery Fair Barcelona next october and two prizes for the online artist profile on the Klimt02 network)
Torre Fornello Gioielli in Fermento 2014 Award: Liana Pattihis (Cyprus & UK) - Flow-Fileri necklace for the perfect balance between innovation and development of the concept : for the transformation of a common and simple element in a unique and personal language
Torre Fornello Gioielli in Fermento 2014 Award: Olivia Monti Arduini (IT/ES) - Basket necklace
for the harmony of composition and for the effect of movement really hard to obtain with a material as porcelain transformed into a jewel, and for the subtle use of colour.
Gioielli in Fermento 2014 – award and special mention AGC and Klimt02: Claudia Steiner (A) - Paesaggio color vinaccia brooch, for the phisical rendering of landscape, for the technical and formal aspects in the realization of the jewel which link concept and technique with the theme of the award.

Gioielli in Fermento 2014 –JOYA special mention: Akis Goumas (GR) - Thera brooch
Every year Gioielli in Fermento / Jewels in ferment aims to gather the infinitely individual expressions of contemporary jewellery makers in relation to popular themes: wine and territories, looking at this terroir as an ensemble of deep-rooted cultural values and elements.
Undoubtedly, this fourth edition confirms the great interest gathered by the exhibition project in Italy and abroad, both in the fields of contemporary jewellery and by the audience fond of excellent wine&food and lifestyle products.
Gioielli in Fermento will be at Torre Fornello till May 22nd, and then will follow a program through all the year 2014. The works of the 50 selected authors wil be showcasing in Locarno (july/august) and in Barcelona (october) and hosted in other italian sites, such as galleries in Milan and Piacenza (autumn '14), and important italian sites for the wine sector that represent also interesting touristic and historical places ('Enoteca Regionale dell'Emilia Romagna' in Dozza and 'Banca Del Vino Slowine - Pollenzo University' in Bra). All informations will be published through website and social network (#gioiellinfermento2014).
