Ana Bellagamba. Necklace: 756viés, 2022. Textile, wood. 40 x 24 x 9.5.
. My research turned to answering an identity question and finding out where I stand as a jewellery maker. It naturally developed into a cultural identity investigation to find where I come from and what my influences are. Here, the starting point for these works is the textile. In my artistic practice, they are the connection to my female ancestors and their importance in my life, who I am, and where I am today. The textile, the sewing technique, and the embroidery inspirations come as a tribute to them. This body of work made me pay attention to learning and accept to follow myself without thinking all the time. It showed me time is essential to my perception and creation as repetition became a constant feature that sets the rhythm of making.. Ana Bellagamba

Intro
Trier University of Applied Sciences, Department of Gemstones and Jewellery, presents 10 graduates in 2022, including 4 BFA and 6 MFA.

Artist list

Ana Bellagamba, Nazanin Jabbarian, Mana Jahangard, Biljana Klekachkoska, Sophia Kron, Sihui Li, Zhixuan Liang, Constanza Salinas, Lisha Wang
Each student chooses their own topic for their graduation work, yet this year there seems to be a longing to explore the different aspects of connection: How do we connect – with people and places, with our past and with ourselves? How is material connected to each other, to form a piece of jewellery?

Nazanin Jabbarian. Body piece: Togetherness, 2022. Aluminium.
. In my bachelor thesis, I am dealing with the topic of chains. What are chains? What meanings can they have and why are they worn on the body? Chains were the first pieces of jewellery worn by humans. One can assume that the history of chains is as old as mankind itself.
.
. The theme was generally inspiring. A big advantage of necklaces is that the designer has room to be creative because of the wide variety of materials and ways of connecting them.
.
. In my work, I came to realise that wearing a necklace has a much deeper meaning. It is a wonderful subject to get into conversation with people. The necklace can create a connection between people that multiculturally in a language that everyone understands.. Nazanin Jabbarian

Mana Jahangard. Necklace: I Remember You as a Tree, 2022. Fuchsite mica, silver, wool, iron, green pigment. 9 x 1 x 32. Photo by: Nima Ashrafi. From series: I am just a memory that I can't even remember.
. Memory... It‘s summertime and such a warm day. I walk inside an ice cream shop, choosing my favourite flavours, one yoghurt, and one bitter chocolate. I already know it is going to taste amazing, I have it in my memory. After finishing my ice cream, I realize the need for water. It would wash away all the sweet taste in my mouth which made me thirsty. Memory makes our Identity; shapes our personality, and makes the story of our life. For me memory is like the ice cream story, it doesn‘t matter how bitter or sweet it is; you need water to wash it all away. But if that happens, what would every single one of us be without our memory? We would have no identities without it – and in the end aren’t we all just a memory that we can‘t even remember?. Biljana Kleckachkoska. Necklace: Holy Mountain, 2022. Silver, vitreous enamel. 17 x 17 x 6 cm.
. My profile is one of a jeweller and artist. My journey began with training in traditional filigree art, but over the years has taken a more exploratory and eclectic flavour. In an era of 3D printers, mass production and consumption, in a swipe-away culture enchanted by black polished screens, my call is to tell more intimate stories.
.
. My process is intuitive and organic, and my methods are contemplative and meditative. My storytelling stems from my personal experiences and fascinations, as well as from the collective archives and mythology.. Biljana Kleckachkoska

.
. My bachelor thesis is about jewellery marketing using the example of the museum shop of the Jakob Bengel Foundation. The goals of the marketing strategy to be developed are self-financing through the museum shop, the creation of an online shop as well as the inclusion of further jewellery from the foundation's own production. The bright and clear layout in colours matching to the company invites customers to stay and shop on the website. This arouses interest in the industrial monument, which can lead to a visit and the additional booking of a guided tour..

Zhixuan Liang. Body piece: Shēng, 2022. Photos in mixed media, cotton, polyester. 29 x 118 x 6. From series: re-conn.
. I consider myself a full-time traveller after being away from home. My camera is always with me. It depicts what I see. After the photographs become massive, I feel like I am isolated from the surroundings.
.
. Everything is saved as fragments. What is the meaning of travel? What is the meaning of photos?
.
. With questions, I stopped taking pictures. I am stuck and lost. The pandemic is a turning point. I have to pay attention to the surroundings, meanwhile, stay with myself. The wood behind my house is the place I can visit and nature becomes my teacher. It teaches me to observe, remain open and reconnect with the world.. Zhixuan Liang

Sihui Li. Necklace: #1, 2022. Basalt, silver, nylon wire. 29 x 29 x 2 cm. Serial number: 01/16.
. Since 2019, there has always been one place in my home country or Europe that is suffering. I can't escape the feeling of being caught in between two places or being torn in half. I fled back and forth between physical reality and cyberspace, looking for an ice floe to stay on for a little moment. This series of works is a record and a reflection of such experience.
.
. I am trying to find and express a state of "in-between", between one moment and the next, between reality and illusion, between appearance and disappearance...... And this state is not static and finite. Amid two opposing forces exists a very small space, a tiny and narrow gap. That can be either the place where the transformation takes place or where the two forces collide. It is a passage or a solid boundary. The journey of exploration and practice is to enter into this space of "in-between", to feel strong pressure and the attraction between them. My works compose a letter for those days on the ice floe.
.
. Welcome to the in-between.. Sihui Li

Constanza Salinas. Brooch: Seltsames Heimweh 01, 2022. Jasper, Ixtle, stainless steel. From series: Seltsames Heimweh.
. Working with stone has made me incorporate Time to the process. I believe you can see the Time I put into the work in the final piece, becoming an additional material on my workbench.
.
. The marks left by tools breathe life into the material, telling us about the process.
.
. I relate strongly to the stone as a material, I always come back to it. It makes me feel at home.
.
. In some stone pieces, I see landscapes. Reminders of places. Non-specific places could be anywhere. Some unidentified land that is always home.. Constanza Salinas
