SIERAAD, International Jewellery Art Fair, is moving to satisfy the growing interest of jewellery artists at home and abroad. The fair will move to the spectacular gasholder on the site of the WesterGasfabriek in Amsterdam.

With our transfer from the RAI to the WesterGasfabriek one of SIERAAD’s long-cherished wishes will be fulfilled. The WesterGasfabriek plays a prominent role in unusual presentations and manifestations in the field of art and culture. In the management of the WesterGasfabriek, the SIERAAD organization has found a partner offering the possibility of expanding the SIERAAD fair and advancing its date.

That which we had not expected, but did hope for, happened. It appears that, compared to e.g. the RAI, the location and set-up of the fair in the Westergasfabriek drew a relatively large number of stylists and journalists. We regularly see publications in all kinds of interior decorating, lifestyle and fashion magazines featuring the work of participants in the SIERAAD fair. SIERAAD is becoming a source for stylists.
And this is only one aspect how SIERAAD, is working as platform for contemporary jewellery designers.
There are numerous other examples. Contacts on a commercial level, resulting from meetings on a personal basis during the fair, provide earnings for our stand holders even after the event. The yearly PR around SIERAAD generates an increasingly lucrative network of relations for you.

From time immemorial Amsterdam has occupied a leading position when it comes to the production, finishing and sale of jewellery. A glorious past which SIERAAD and the WesterGasfabriek will jointly provide with a new incentive, for which SIERAAD has entered into a long-term cooperation with the WesterGasfabriek.

In actual fact, this means that SIERAAD will expand and offer more artists an opening to present their work to a wider public. Moreover, starting this year the fair will be held a month earlier, from 5 thru 8 November; in this way SIERAAD will also accommodate the wishes of foreign participants in particular.

SIERAAD, International Art Fair, is the only international, specialised fair where goldsmiths and jewellery designers show and sell their work directly to the public. SIERAAD also accommodates special exhibitions and jewellery shows. The SIERAAD art fair has existed since 2001 and has become an annual public event lasting four days.

Apart from the classical designs, which may or may not feature the use of gems, there are unusual designs made of unconventional materials

This year Chequita Nahar will make a presentation (with her University from Maastricht )will present the work of their talented students. More information will follow!

Activities

The exhibition of entries for the international design contest New Traditional Jewellery, which is part of the SIERAAD fair, is literally and figuratively its heart.

NEW TRADITIONAL JEWELLERY GROWS INTO A BIENNIAL EVENT

THEME INTERNATIONAL DESIGN CONTEST AND EXHIBITION IN 2010: TRUE COLOURS

Starting with the fourth edition, New Traditional Jewellery (NTJ) will become a biennial event.

The three preceding editions of this international design contest and the ensuing travelling exhibitions have been proof of the success of this project and its right to exist. The quality requirements as to the nature and scope of and entries for the event are becoming increasingly strict. In order to meet these requirements in a professional manner NTJ will become a biennial design contest.

The next edition will be in 2010. For the design contest and exhibition 2010 the technical jury of New Traditional Jewellery (NTJ) has chosen the theme ‘True Colours’ because literally as well as figuratively this theme offers considerable scope for inspiration.
