Statement

I like to approach jewellery as small-scale sculpture, and I like my work to be fun and have a bit of a sense of humor. I love working with found objects - especially plastic toys and old coins – because they have so much figurative and narrative potential. I work very much within a kitsch or cute aesthetic, and I enjoy combining precious, traditional materials with things that might be unexpected in jewellery, or considered bad-taste.

· Co-founder of “The Contemporary Jewellery Collective” with fellow South African jewelers Beverley Price and Verna Jooste
· Speaker at the Design Indaba’s Jewellery Indaba (2005), and jewellery curator for the Design Indaba Expo (2006, 2007, & 2008)

Other projects:
· I designed and produced a Christmas tree for an outdoor public art project (sponsored by Anglo American) in Main Street, Johannesburg (2004)
· I designed a window decoration for local retailer Woolworths, as part of their summer 2004 campaign
· I have worked on ranges for local fashion labels Miss Scarlet and Two, which were showcased at SA Fashion Week Winter Collections in Johannesburg in March 2008

Business:
· I opened a shop selling contemporary South African jewellery – Tinsel – in Melville, Johannesburg in May 2006, together with my business partner, Jaci Jenkins. We opened a second branch in Cape Town in September 2007.
