Statement

I like to approach jewellery as small-scale sculpture, and I like my work to be fun and have a bit of a sense of humor. I love working with found objects - especially plastic toys and old coins – because they have so much figurative and narrative potential. I work very much within a kitsch or cute aesthetic, and I enjoy combining precious, traditional materials with things that might be unexpected in jewellery, or considered bad-taste.

· I opened a shop selling contemporary South African jewellery – Tinsel – in Melville, Johannesburg in May 2006, together with my business partner, Jaci Jenkins. We opened a second branch in Cape Town in September 2007.
