Bio
Annie Sibert lives and works in Strasbourg, France. She started her education in contemporary jewelry in 2003 at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg (HEAR) and continued her research at the Ecole d’Art et de Design (HEAD) in Geneva in Switzerland in 2006 where she learnt several metal and silversmith techniques. After a year of blacksmithing in 2008, she obtained her Contemporary Jewelry Master at the HEAR School in 2009.
Since then, she has continued to experiment with metal, for instance the Korean damascene technique called ipsa, which she learned in South Korea from a great master.
Statement
Annie Sibert's work is based on experimental work carried out in the workshop with the help of available techniques and tools. This results in shapes and strong ideas which revisit the function of the jewel and most often imply that a discovery will be made by the spectator. Something must be discovered, just as she experimented in the workshop. As Michèle Heuzé, jewelry historian says : “Annie Sibert has a taste for the physical relationship with matter. She is guided by the material while offering it a new partnership”.
