Escola d'Art La Industrial
School

Since 1915, the school has been located on the grounds of the Industrial School of Barcelona. This historical site is significant as it was the headquarters of the old Batlló Factory.
Our main objective is to train in the theoretical and practical knowledge, promoting the creative and conceptual capacity of the students, as well as providing them with the essential tools to develop a future professional task.
The upper VET course in Artistic Jewellery has been taught in our school since 2000, although jewellery studies have a centuries-old tradition on the grounds of the Industrial School.
The technical domain is our distinguishing feature, we teach the techniques of jewelry, we give space to recover old techniques (like watermark, granulation, chiseled,...), we incorporate other worlds’ techniques close to jewelry (engraving, recessed, enamel,...) and also apply new technologies (3D printing, laser cutting,...). But as the will of the studies is to give a global training so that the student can then choose his own path, we also work on the creative and expressive aspects as well as the critical spirit in order to develop a coherent and more personal work.
Another important aspect of the school is the close treatment of teachers and individual attention to all classes, as well as the development of own projects with the tutoring of teachers.
The center has very good facilities, the jewelry workshop and the project room are well equipped with all the necessary tools and machinery. We also have a multimedia classroom, gemological laboratory, photo set and 3D printers. The center provides much of the necessary material for the development of the activities.
The contents of these studies are complemented by conferences, participation in jewellery competitions and visits to national and international exhibitions and fairs. The school also participates in different exhibitions and fairs throughout the year, both in Barcelona and in other European cities.
