Bio
Born in Mexico City, Susie Heuberger is a jewelry artist who has lived and worked in Germany since 2015. She uses jewelry as a medium for reflecting on personal, social, and political issues. Her interest focuses on the memory of materials and on power relations between the Global South and the Global North. She trained at the goldsmith school in Pforzheim and studied Gems and Jewelry at the campus in Idar-Oberstein. In 2025, she completed a master’s degree in the Metal and Jewellery Department at Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschafft und Kunst Hildesheim. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is part of collections such as Galerie Marzee and the Goldschmiedehaus in Hanau. In 2023, she received the Talente – Meister der Zukunft award in Munich and in 2025, one of the Marzee graduation Prizes for her MA graduation work.Statement
In my work, I engage with social and political issues, particularly cultural identity, memory, violence, and the relationships between the Global North and South. I often work with natural materials such as seeds, stone, and textile techniques, which function as carriers of history and meaning. I consider jewelry to be an ideal medium for addressing these often uncomfortable subjects, as its close relationship to the body creates an intimate point of encounter. Through this physical proximity, my work invites a personal engagement with collective experiences.News!
