SCHMUCK 2019
The upcoming SCHMUCK 2019 is sure to be a special event: After all the first edition of the now world-renowned special exhibition took place 60 years ago in March. For decades now, it has steadily been the origin of new trends in the field of contemporary art jewellery.

Considered to be the annual event for goldsmiths and jewellery designers worldwide, the SCHMUCK special exhibition is taking place at Internationale Handwerksmesse and «Handwerk & Design». In the course of its 60-year history, it has acquired a unique status and is the meeting place for jewellery enthusiasts, collectors, gallery owners and museum curators from around the world.

SCHMUCK is organised as a competition. Jewellery artists from all over the world hand in their works in order to be part of the exhibition. 762 goldsmiths from 58 countries applied this year.

A total of 65 participants from 22 countries were invited to take part in SCHMUCK 2019. They were selected by this year's curator of the exhibition, art historian Dr. Sabine Runde, who has been curating exhibitions on jewellery and crafts for over 30 years as chief curator of the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt.

The highlight of SCHMUCK will be the awarding of the Herbert-Hofmann Prizes to up to three artists, which is eagerly anticipated by a multitude of international guests every year.

The award will take place on Saturday during the fair:
16 March 2019, at 5 p.m. on the stage in Hall B1.

TALENTE 2019
The special exhibition TALENTE has been part of Internationale Handwerksmesse for more than 30 years. It consist of a continually surprising selection of young up-and-coming designers from a variety of fields. The tendencies and strengths of certain schools and training institutions as well as the emphases prevailing in different countries are reflected in the show in equal parts. Furthermore, TALENTE provides a platform for participants to introduce themselves to an expert public and become part of an international network.

TALENTE will show innovative, imaginative, extraordinary and very different works. Especially in the fields of glass, ceramics and jewellery, as well as an unusually large number of interesting textiles and fashion designs. This year TALENTE presents works by 103 young artists, designers and craftsmen from 30 countries in 11 different fields. The best eight contributions will be awarded the TALENTE prizes.

MEISTER DER MODERNE is organized by the Handwerkskammer München und Oberbayern and exhibits a selection of outstanding works in the arts and crafts and in design, and is a mirror of contemporary aesthetics.
Mastery can have many starting points; it can be the impressive use of materials, subtle functionality, technical precision, the elegance of colour and form, humour and enigma. With its selection of masterpieces, the exhibition MEISTER DER MODERNE aims at documenting the diversity of international arts and crafts.

FRAME 2019
Another reason for the jewellery scene to make the move from New Zealand through North America and all the way to Munich are the prestigious international galleries, which, under the title FRAME, set the stage for SCHMUCK like a splendid decoration and can only be experienced together at Internationale Handwerksmesse and «Handwerk & Design».
