The main ambition of the EASD Valencia (School of Art and Design of Valencia) has been to offer an opportunity for the training and the promotion of creative talents. In 2001, during the celebration of its 150th anniversary, the ancient teachings of jewellery were converted into a Higher Level Training Course of Artistic Jewellery. Having in mind a dynamic growth and improvement, and driven by the effort of the members of the department, this goal has been achieved in 2014 with the introduction of the Bachelor in Jewellery and Object.
The Jewellery Department concentrates on the stimulation of the student's competence in the different fields of jewellery and object, reclaiming the scientific and technical values of our discipline, for example, by the medium of metallurgy, gemology, and increasingly, the new technologies. At the same time we promote an artistic vision, stressing the ideas at the core of the design process and the methodology.
The EASD València comprises several facilities in its building in Viveros: jewellery workshop annexed to the project making class room, enamel workshop, ceramic workshop, computer room, photography set and specialized library.
It also offers a diverse program of extra-curricular initiatives to encourage students in their fledgling career.
The most important ones are:
Selection of visiting artists:
Ramón Puig Cuyas, Peter Bauhuis, Christine Graf, Sarah O`Hana, Jorge Manilla, Sophie Hanagarth, Edu Tarín, Ursula Guttmann, Enric Majoral, Gemma Draper.
